Oxford sign a new left back

Oxford sign a new left back

Darren Patterson has signed up Chris Carruthers today.

Chris, 24, 6ft 1 can play left back or left midfield. Born in Kettering he was taken on as a trainee at Northampton in 2000. He spent 5 years at the sixfields stadium making 89 appearances scoring 1 goal.

In June 2005 he transferred to Bristol Rovers where he made 128 appearances scoring another goal.

Regarded as an athletic player who passes the ball very well.

Chris was reluctant to drop down to the BSP but after speaking to Darren and looking around the facilities was impressed enough to turn down offers from league clubs.

I think this is a quality signing. Howard no chance now though. But then again I think we have a better left back in chris.

Carruthers is a very good player, expect great things. He just wasn't good enough for league 1.
