Ian Lenagan the owner of Oxford United will take over as Chairman of the football team.
Due to Ian's other involvements he had taken a back seat involvement in the club first preferring Nick Merry then Kelvin Thomas. However due to him selling his stake in Workplace Systems International for 19 million in December 2011 he now has the time to devote to Oxford United.
Ian is not new to the sports world as he is Chairman and CEO of Wigan Warriors Rugby League team who are current Challenge Cup holders and top of the Stobart Super League.
During a recent press statement he indicated that he wants Oxford United to gain promotion this season. He has already been involved in the recruitment of new players to the club. But it is his introduction of cutting edge sports science technology that will keep the 1st team 25% fitter than last season. This was seen as a reason why Oxford United did not make the playoffs last season.
Ian stated that a six figure sum had been invested to bring this technology to the club. Oxford will be the only club in Npower league 2 using these methods.
Let`s hope this is the extra push that`s needed to get us up to football`s third tier.
