Oxford Utd XI: Judge, Robinson, Patterson, McClaren, Briggs, Shotton, Lawrence, Magilton, Durnin, Leworthy, Rhoades-Brown. Subs: Burton, Thomas, Taylor, Lewis, Beauchamp, Allen, Houghton, Elliott, Milsom.
Chelsea XI: Taylor, Cummings, Magney, Pettigrew, Bridcutt, Cork, Younghusband, Sahr, Tejera, Sinclair. Subs: Elmer, Russell, Neilsen, Bird.
A youthful looking Chelsea side came out on top score wise but the real winner was Rosie and the fans. Great entertainment and well worth watching.
The Oxford greats of the past showed real class at times with some neat passing. The legs had gone on most but it was still great to see Shotton and Briggs at the back, Houghton in the middle and Chrissy Allen and Joey Beauchamp on the wing.
Kelvin Thomas (director) who departs at the end of the season back to the US scored a goal which was laid off by David Leworthy but the linesman raised his flag for the offside by Leworthy.
Johnny Lager put in an impressive game full of running as did Les Robinson.
Ernie Smith who won the Asst managers auction tried swapping players and tactics to no avail. But did manage to get two extra players on for the last 5 minutes under the nose of the officials led by Dermot Gallagher for a formation of 1444.
But the young legs of Chelsea`s future stars came through.
Goals
Oxford Patterson, Rhoades-Brown
Chelsea Sinclair 2, Sahar 2
